Why You ARE Photogenic: A Photographer's Perspective

"I'm not photogenic."

How many times have you heard someone say this? How many times have you said it yourself?

It's a common phrase, but it's not necessarily true.

As a photographer, I've heard this phrase countless times, and it always makes me a little sad. Because the truth is, everyone is photogenic. Yes, even you. So let me share with you why you really are photogenic, and how I, as a photographer, aim to capture the beauty in everyone.

First of all, let's define photogenic. The dictionary definition is "looking attractive in photographs or on film." But what does that even mean? Who decides what's attractive in a photograph?

The truth is, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. There is no one standard of beauty. Therefore, there is no one standard of photogenic. What you might see as flaws in yourself, someone else might see as unique and beautiful. As a photographer, I strive to capture that uniqueness and beauty in every person I photograph.

Being "photogenic" is not about looks. It's about confidence.

When you feel confident and comfortable in front of the camera, it shows. That's why I take the time to get to know my clients. I want to make them feel comfortable, so that they can be themselves in front of the camera. When you let go of your insecurities and allow yourself to be vulnerable, that's when the magic happens. That's when I can capture the real you, and all your beauty.

Lighting and posing make a huge difference. The right lighting can make your skin look flawless, your eyes sparkle, and your hair shine. And the right pose can flatter your body and highlight your best features.

As a photographer, I know how to use lighting and posing to bring out the best in my clients.

But more importantly, I know how to make my clients feel comfortable in those poses. I don't expect you to be a model or know how to pose yourself. That's my job. I'll guide you through the whole process, and make sure you look and feel your best.

It's important to remember that photographs are not just about looks.

They're about capturing memories and emotions. When you look back at a photograph, you should feel the love, joy, and connection that you felt in that moment. That's why I strive to create connective sessions with my clients.

I want to capture not just what you look like, but who you are. When you feel, seen and heard, it shows in your photographs. And that's what makes them truly beautiful.

So, the next time someone tells you that they're not photogenic, don't believe them. And if you've ever thought that about yourself, let me tell you: you ARE photogenic.

Every person has beauty, uniqueness, and something to offer. As a photographer, my job is to capture all of that. My goal is not just to take pretty pictures, but to create an experience that will make you feel seen, heard, and loved. Because that's what photography is all about.

And that's why I believe that everyone is photogenic.
