When Mother Nature Crashes Your Photo Session Party 🌧️

Picture this: You’ve got the perfect outfits picked out, everyone’s actually excited about taking family photos (a miracle in itself), and you've been looking forward to capturing those magical moments. But then, you peek out the window, and it’s not just raining; it’s like the sky decided to host its own water-themed party. Great, right?

Don’t fret, my photo-loving friends! Rain might mean rescheduling, but it doesn’t mean disaster. Here’s the lowdown on what happens if the weather decides to test our patience on your session day.

Weather Woes & Wise Decisions

First off, know that we’re in this together. Your family’s comfort and safety? That’s my top priority. If it’s hotter than a sidewalk egg-fry contest, or we’ve got rain pouring like it’s trying to fill a swimming pool, it’s time to chat about plan B. I’m all about capturing joy, not turning your photo session into a survival episode.

Calling It

We usually make the call about 3 hours before our session. Why? Because weather likes to play tricks, and we want to be sure. If it’s just a bit of drizzle earlier in the day but clear skies are on the horizon, we’re golden. But if it’s looking like we’ll need an ark rather than a camera, we’ll press pause and find a new date.

Reschedules & Rain Checks

Now, rescheduling because of weather isn’t a one-size-fits-all kind of deal. It depends on a few things:

  • Rain During Your Session: If it’s more than a sprinkle, we’ll probably need to reschedule.

  • Rain Before Your Session: Puddles can be fun, but not for sitting in. That said, a post-rain cityscape can add some amazing vibes to urban shoots.

  • Overcast Isn’t a Deal Breaker: Cloudy skies? No problem. They actually make for some pretty flattering lighting. We’re still on unless it’s looking like a scene from a disaster movie.

And hey, if the weather turns out to be warmer or cooler than we thought when picking outfits, it’s totally okay (and encouraged) to adjust. Trust me, shivering through a session or melting down faster than ice cream in July isn’t fun for anyone. Plus, goosebumps and blue lips aren’t really the accessories we’re going for.

The Silver Lining Playbook

While rescheduling might seem like a bummer, it’s actually a great opportunity to ensure we’re creating the best possible memories, minus the weather-induced stress. And think about it: You get to look forward to the fun not once but twice!

Remember, a little rain just adds to the story. One day, you’ll look back at these photos and laugh about how we dodged raindrops or how we ended up having an impromptu dance party under cloudy skies.

Staying Flexible & Fabulous

In the end, what matters most is that we capture those genuine moments of joy and connection. Whether it’s under a blazing sun, amidst fallen leaves, or after a quick weather check and outfit swap, we’ll make it work. And it will be beautiful.

Because here’s the thing: Life isn’t always perfect, but the memories? They’re pretty darn close, especially when we roll with the punches (or raindrops, in this case).

So, here’s to capturing the sunshine, even if it’s hiding behind a few clouds. 📸☁️
